AN EXHIBITION GAME OF SORTS
View(s):AN EXHIBITION GAME OF SORTS
After a long time a game played with a net and ball took pride of place. This was supposed to be a tournament to pick a pool for the world competition to be held Down Under in August. The only competition in this sport took place about six months ago was in Singapore where Sri Lanka took second place. But only two teams turned up for the local contest. Those who have been following the game say that these two teams had been arranged by an official of the sport who is extremely friendly with the head of the game in order that head of this sport will not be embarrassed by the situation. Ultimately it turned out to be an exhibition game of sorts. Can we send a team to the world cup under these situations?
FIRE AND BRIMSTONE
There was fire and brimstone at a game played with the oval ball when team members of the visiting team, the referee and the press had to be escorted out of the grounds under police guard. This happened when a certain section of the crowd, believed to be members of the second string of the home team, invaded the ground in order to assault members of the visiting team
STRANGE
Three thousand balls have been smuggled out of a leading Sports House apparently for no reason. It was later found out that the balls had been taken out not to promote the sport but for political reasons! Now an inquiry is on as to what purpose that these had been taken out. Another inquiry is on about the same sport as to how a tournament was held in the name of a leading politician just before the start of the elections.
ALL TO PROTECT A BROTHER
Families have the habit of sticking together at the time of trouble. This was quite evident when a big brother came to the rescue of his little brother at a certain inquiry. The big brother spoke quite eloquently to cover up the faults of his younger sibling at this inquiry. Will those who are holding the inquiry be convinced?
SLEEPY HEAD
During an inquiry the new boss wanted to know why a certain individual has not been sent on official meetings abroad. It was pointed out that this official in particular has a habit of ‘sleeping’ at these meetings and that was the reason why he was not sent on official jaunts.
THE TEA PARTY
Inquiries are on as how the former regime had colossal sums of money on unnecessary bashes. It looks as if the present regime is not far behind. At a recent party hosted by a new official at the ‘White House’ the cost had been a staggering One and Half Lakhs of Rupees! This too comes at a time when the prices of bread and buns have been brought down.
