Jayamanna to take oaths as President’s Counsel
View(s):Additional Solicitor General Sarath Jayamanna will take oaths as President’s Counsel (P.C.) on Wednesday in the Supreme Court.
During his 26-year tenure as a prosecutor, he handled some of the high profile criminal cases.
Among the cases which Mr Jayamanna handled are the Kobeigane beauty queen murder case, Ruggerite Tony Martin murder case, High Court Judge Sarath Ambepitiya assassination case, Embilipitiya student disappearance case and the Hokandara multiple murder case.
Mr Jayamanna has been a visiting Lecturer on Law of Evidence and Criminal Procedure at the Sri Lanka Law College and the Faculty of Law.
He was awarded Britain’s prestigious Chevening Scholarship in 2001 and received his Masters Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Oxford University in 2002.
He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Sciences from the University of Sri Jayewardenapura.
