Nautical Institute awards
View(s):The Nautical Institute Sri Lanka Branch will present an annual award ‘to promote high standards of professionalism amongst the Sri Lanka branch members and potential members’.
The Nautical Institute is a leading international professional association for qualified mariners and those associated with the marine profession such as administrators, lawyers, ship owners, operators, charterers to name only a few other related industry professionals. The Nautical Institute counts a membership across 110 countries and promotes high standards of professionalism through a vibrant network of over 40 branches spread across the globe.
There will be three categories of awards – for a scholarship, competitions and recognition of significant contribution to the standing of the Sri Lanka Mariners. The annual award category for a particular year is on the recommendation of the annual award committee.
An Annual Award Constitution of the Sri Lanka Branch was adopted unanimously by a Branch Executive Committee meeting in September 2014.
The founder committee comprises: Capt. Sunil V. Perera, FNI; Capt. W. A. A. D. Harindra Perera, FNI; Commander Ravi F. M. Tissera, AFNI; Capt. Rohan E.G. Codipilly, MNI. The AA Committee Chairman post was reconfirmed in the reserved ex-officio Branch Chairman position as Admiral Jayanath S. K. Colombage, FNI.
Each nominated candidate is assessed against the criteria laid down in the AA Constitution. The award to successful nominations may be presented at the Branch AGM or another high profile event.
