St. Sylvester’s turn the tables against fancied St Sebastian’s in their own den to record a stunning innings and 67-run victory at St. Sebastian’s ground in Moratuwa.

The foundation for St. Sylvester’s win was laid by Harsha Madushan who hit 109 and Parakrama Tennekoon who cracked a half ton which helped them make a formidable 351 for 7 declared after their bowlers had shot out the Sebs for 121 runs.

Easy for Royal

Royal had to put in little effort on day two to secure a comfortable nine-wicket win over Wesley in the match which ended at Reid Avenue.

Royal was on top since the first ball was bowled on day one and was in line to record an outright win which they achieved with ease.

Royal taking first lease of the wicket made 235 for 8 declared and then skittled out Wesley resuming on their overnight score of 89 for 8 for the addition of five more runs.

Wesley batting the second time had little to offer as again they put the Royal bowlers on top. Apart from Jonathan Caderamanpulle and Kavishka Wickramasinghe the others failed to make any impression as Royal bowlers Lasith Embuldeniya and Harith Samarasinghe combined to bowl them out for 172. Royal set 34 runs for victory raced to the target in the eighth over.

St. John’s secure tenth outright win

St. John’s recorded their tenth outright win of the ongoing inter-school cricket season with a convincing innings and 37 runs win over Mahajana College Tellipallai in the match concluded at Tellipallai.

St. Aloysius home for tea

St. Aloysius Galle was home for tea when they recorded an eight-wicket win over Revatha MMV Balapitiya at Mahinda ground Galle.
The low scoring match saw the Aloysians taking a first inning lead when play stopped on day one.

No play

No play was possiblein the morning session of play on the second day due to wet outfield in the match between St. Benedict’s and St. Peter’s at Kotahena.

The Peterites batting on the first day posted a score of 306 for 4 with unbeaten knocks coming from Lakshina Rodrigo (132) and Sachin Dalpathadu who together put on a massive 206 runs for the fifth wicket.

The late start saw St. Benedict’s resuming on their overnight score of 72 for 4 being bowled out for 148 giving St. Peter’s a first innings win.

Nalanda in 1st innings win

Nalanda too registered a first innings win over Mahinda at the Galle Stadium. Mahinda batting first was restricted to a score of 132 and Nalanda in their turn made 212.

President’s Kotte recorded a close first innings win over Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa in the match played at Kotte while Dharmaloka MV Kelaniya got the better of Devapathiraja MMV Rathgama in the match concluded at Rathgama.

D.S. Senananayake College was in the box seat against Carey in the match which began at Wijerama Mawatha yesterday. DSS had Carey struggling on 47 for 6 in reply to their score of 314 for 6 declared.
