Kingslake introduces SmartApps.lk
View(s):Colombo-based Kingslake last week launched SmartApps.lk, a cloud platform for rapid application development (RAD) at an event titled “Reaching for the Cloud: Developing Powerful Next-Gen Apps” held in Colombo.
Kingslake showcased how SmartApps.lk, an aPaaS (Application Platform as a Service) solution, is enabling anyone, anywhere to start creating powerful and innovative next-gen applications in the cloud, in next-to-no-time, the company said in a media release.
SmartApps.lk provides scalable and flexible services to developers at a monthly subscription, taking away the hassles and setting up costs of infrastructure, software licencing and related maintenance. Only a computer or other smart device with Internet access is required to get started.
Speaking at the event, Dr. S Dharmavasan, Chairman of Kingslake, said that the cloud is allowing today’s businesses to “Innovate, Disrupt, Profit”. The cloud computing revolution has created ‘disruptive innovation’ by breaking away from the traditional software model, and opening up unlimited business opportunities for innovative developers to profit, whether they are individuals, developers, or part of an established business, he said.
Benjamin Wong, Channels Director APJ, Progress Software, spoke on “Empowering Developers.” The most crucial factor in app development is time to market; SmartApps.lk allows individual developers, small start-ups and large corporations alike to rapidly bring innovative solutions to market, giving them an edge over their competitors, he noted.Navin Pieris, Head – Fixed Business, Dialog Axiata, speaking on “Infrastructure as a Service” (IaaS), described how Dialog provides a secure and scalable infrastructure for SmartApps.lk with their state-of-the-art Data Centre.
