Social service team aids landslide affected areas

Founder Shihan Haniff’s mission is to alleviate the sufferings of the poor. Social service.lk cares for people from all stages of life, from children to senior citizens. Their vision is to lead positive social change to enhance the quality of life for everyone.
The organisation currently has 2,719 members in its short span of existence from 2014. Among the projects conducted so far are: Educational support for underprivileged school children (provision of school materials) free education, providing financial support during natural calamities, minimising unemployment, organising blood donations etc. Future events planned are car washes, educating 50 students to enter university, a day with cancer patients, provision of contact lenses and eyeglasses for the needy etc.
Recently the group collected 200 schoolbags and visited the following schools in landslide affected areas. They also distributed 50 packets of dry rations to Morathota Vidyalya Hali-ela, St.James Medical Centre, Katugaha Sri Mudalndarama Rajamaha viharya, Neluwa grama niladhari, Maligatanna, Nelum child development centre,Sawwanthi Uva highlands and Vanisa child development centre.
