‘Knowledge’ is what every Lankan needs, says Dr. Harsha
View(s):In a world moving with advanced technology and new innovations coming into place, it is time that every Sri Lankan citizen gain knowledge to look at things in a different way, according to Deputy Minister of Policy Planning and Economic Development Dr. Hrsha De Silva.
Speaking at the Wijeya Graphics Multimedia Graduation Awards ceremony at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo last week, he said that every citizen of Sri Lanka need to look at ‘knowledge’ in a wider perspective.
“Knowledge can help a person to be on his/her own without depending on others. Every upcoming young generation has to learn well improving their knowledge and move forward in their talented field to make it a career in their life. It is also the market that decides the profession you choose to be in. Development has to be measured from the grassroots level that is from the family itself. Every single person in the country has a responsibility towards the country’s economy. Our country also needs a proper economic development plan,” he added.
Wijeya Graphics which started in 1986 was set up to train graphic and web designing to individuals who were interested in making it a career in their life. The company has reached milestones in achieving the goal. Every year around 1400 students enroll at the Wijeya Graphics outlets islandwide and more than 5000 students have passed through the institution since its formation.
Students from the Wijeya Graphics outlets all around the country received awards in various categories of multimedia such as graphic designing, web designing, 3D designing, photography, picture painting, portrait, television production and many more. Also present were State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene as the Chief Guest, Wijeya Newspapers Ltd Chairman Ranjith Wijewardene and Major General Ivan Dassanayake.
