Damon and Chanaka take batting honours
The 13th David Pieris Group of Companies sponsored, ‘DPGC Challenge Trophy’, MCA Division ‘E’ 30-over League Tournament 2015, got off to a start on Poya Day and continued during the last weekend. During the three days, 20 half day matches took place and stealing the lime-light were the two centurions, opening batsman, Damon Diyagama from Emerchemie NB (113 in 71 balls, inclusive of 8 sixes, 14 fours vs Astron Lanka) and R.V.C.S. Chanaka from Noyon Lanka (100 in 41 balls, inclusive of 10 sixes and 06 fours vs Union Assurance) and bowlers, C.H. Gurusighe from Brandix Essentials (6 for 35 in 6 overs vs MAS Active ‘B’), Harishanth Rajendra from Unilever (5 for 31 in 6 overs vs R.R. Dinerly) and N.A. Chandima from Eagle Logistics (5 for 31 in 6 overs vs Amana Takaful Insurance) took major honours.
The highest team total of 281 for 9 wickets in 30 overs came from Union Assurance PLC vs Noyon Lanka and the lowest team total of 79 all out in 14 overs was recorded by Bimputh Finance vs Commercial Bank ‘B. The tournament will continue this weekend with a card of 12 matches.
