Jayatissa sends Tamil Union reeling
Army SC right arm spinner Roshan Jayatissa had Tamil Union in deep trouble on day three in their Premier League Super Eight encounter played at the NCC ground. Roshan who ended the second day’s play with a four wicket haul went on to add another two wickets on day three to send Tamil Union, resuming on their overnight score of 169 for 7, reeling to a score of 207.
This was in reply to Army SC’s score of 334 which came on the back of a fine knock of 146 by Shalika Karunanayake who along with Asela Gunaratne who chipped in with a 97 putting on a fourth wicket partnership of 240 runs. Army SC batting the second time ended three on 48 for 2 when bad light forced an early stoppage to the match. Only 31 overs of play were possible for the day.An unbeaten knock of 161 which comprised 14 boundaries and four sixes by Jehan Mubarak was the highlight of the third day’s play in the match between NCC and CCC played at Panagoda.
Jehan was also associated in two fruitful partnerships first 190 runs for the third wicket with Pawan Wickramasinghe and the other of 86 runs for the fourth wicket with Angelo Perera which saw NCC continuing from their overnight score of 264 for 3 end the rain shortened third day’s play on 351 for 5. CCC batting first made 304.
Badureliya SC was in deep trouble against SLPA CC when play ended on day three in the match played at Reid Avenue. Badureliya SC in reply to SLPA CC’s 367 resuming on their overnight score of 165 for 5 was shot out for 211 with spinner Malinda Pushpakumara doing the damage. Badureliya SC made to follow on and left with the task of erasing a deficit of 156 runs were 18 for no loss when bad light stopped play.
Bloomfield guided by Ashen Silva who made an unbeaten 90 with 13 boundaries and Madawa Warnapura 73 with nine boundaries who together put on an unbroken second wicket stand of 157 runs made a bold reply of 172 for 1 in reply to Moors SC’s 362 on day three in the match played at the Colts ground.
