Udara, Nilushan in massive stand
Skipper Udara Jayasundara and Nilushan Nonis was associated in a massive opening wicket stand of 220 runs helping Ragama CC make a formidable score of 297 for 2 against Saracens SC when play was stopped due to bad weather on day two in the Premier League Plate encounter at the CCC ground.
Nilushan made a 94 which included 12 boundaries while Udara remained unbeaten on 153 that comprised 14 boundaries and four sixes.
Chilaw Marians has already taken a first inning lead over Air Force SC in another match of the same tournament hampered by bad weather played at the FTZ ground in Katunayake. The low scoring match saw Air Force SC resuming on their overnight score of 104 for 6 being bowled out for 112 with Lahiru Gamage who ended with impressive figures of 5 for 25 doing the damage.
Chilaw Marians too underwent some anxious moments before they managed win over the Airmen and end day two on 134 for 9. The match will be continued today. The match between SSC and Colts scheduled to be played at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium saw the first day’s play being washed out and only 12 overs being bowled on day two with SSC ending the day on struggling on 12 for 4.
