CEAT renews commitment with SLDA
View(s):After its long-standing commercial partners CEAT Kelani Holdings decided to renew its commitment for the third consecutive year, Sri Lanka Auto-sports Drivers’ Association (SLADA) released its annual event calendar for 2015.
This year’s confusion-marred yet the much awaited annual event – Foxhill Supercross will be the opening event of the calendar which is scheduled for April 17 and 18 at Diyatalawa. In addition the SLADA will conduct five other racing events around the country.
Coinciding with the release of the official schedule for the six race meets that will make up the 2015 CEAT-SLADA Championship, CEAT’s announcement of its continuing support to motor racing provides added thrust to the plans for the year’s racing calendar.
The CEAT-SLADA Championship season begins on April 17 with the Foxhill Supercross for all classes of motorcycles, and encompasses the Sigiriya Supercross on May 16 and 17, the Cavalry Supercross on June 13 and 14, Gunners’ Supercross on July 4 and 5, Gajaba Supercross on August 29 and 30 and the Rotherham Katukurunda Circuit Meet which will be held on October 17 and 18. The 2015 CEAT-SLADA Championship awards ceremony is scheduled for 21st November 2015.
Speaking at the formal signing of the title sponsorship agreement with SLADA, CEAT Kelani Holdings Vice President Sales & Marketing Ravi Dadlani said: “This is the sixth year overall that CEAT is supporting motor racing in Sri Lanka, and the third year in partnership with SLADA. It is a privilege for CEAT to be a key sponsor of SLADA and of several race events conducted by the Sri Lanka Army and the Air Force. We are committed to support whatever steps necessary to raise the standard of the sport.”
SLADA President Major (Retired) Dilhan Jayawardena said the company has consistently supported the motor racing fraternity for a number of years. “CEAT has been a great sponsor and supported us in many ways to live the game,” he said.
Established by a team of drivers, riders and officials to take motorsports in Sri Lanka to the next generation, SLADA has introduced the latest technology in timing and equipment to meet the demands of this rapidly changing sport. To ensure that race events are a success, the Association has nominee representatives from the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Air Force on its executive committee, a first for any racing association in the country.
