‘Wijaya – Kuweni’ and ‘Ehelepola Kumarihami’ famed filmmaker Sugath Samarakoon has completed his latest film ‘Ape Kaalaye Patachara’ (Patachara of our times), a story influenced by the Jathaka story of ‘Patachara’, and scripted based on the story of Patachara famous character in the Buddhist literature, the film depicts the tragedy befallen on modern ‘Patacharas’ or the female generation.
Produced by Wishwakumara Wathiyage, the film has a massive cast with around 500 artistes. The main roles are played by Dulani Anuradha, Ravindra Randeniya, Saranga Dissasekara, Anura Dharmasiriwardena and Sarath Dikkumbura. This film is to end the three film created by Samarakoon based on the tragedies of female characters found in Sri Lankan history and literature. All the three tragic female roles were played by talented Dulani Anuradha.
Priyan Anura Sri handles costumes while camera is by Sujith and art direction by Dhammika Hewaduwattha. Nishantha Harshana Wickremasinghe is the assistant director. The film was shot in the location around Anuradhapura.
