Gangaramaya food packets get good response, but other lunch packet sellers hit in the stomach
View(s):The distribution of budget food packets organised by the Gangaramya Temple in Hunupitiya, Colombo at an affordable price of Rs. 50 got off the ground last Monday drawing large crowds on the first day.

Among those present at the launch were the Chief Priest of the Gangaramya Temple the Ven Ganaboda-Gnanissera Thera and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe along with several regional politicians and senior government officials.
According to the Thera the main purpose was to provide clean and nutritious food at an affordable price to the many thousands of workers who enter the area on a daily basis .
He said he had received the cooperation and assistance of many known food suppliers in the city and suburbs and members of the security forces.
The vegetarian food packets are available between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on week days.
However this food drive has created anxious moments for the other small-time entrepreneurs dealing with lunch packets and other related food items in the vicinity.
