Korean-inspired German wind instrument trio to perform here
View(s):The German trio, Arirang Trio d’Anches will be in concert on Tuesday, March 31, at 7.30 p.m. at the Goethe Institute. The visit to Colombo has been courtesy of the German Embassy.
The Arirang Trio d’Anches is part of the arirang quintet which was formed in 2002. The idea for the group originated during an orchestra tour with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie to North and South Korea, and the group’s name, Arirang, refers to a traditional Korean song.
Joerg Schneider on oboe, is a scholarship recipient in the orchestra academy of the Essen Philharmonic. He is currently with the Ensemble Modern and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
Steffen Dillner on clarinet, is a first prize winner of the “Jugend musiziert” competition and member of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Youth Orchestra. He is currently the principal clarinet in the Eisenach Opera Orchestra.
Philipp Zeller is principal bassoonist with the Dresdner Philharmonie, a position he has held since 2009. He became the first bassoonist in 25 years to win the top prize at the prestigious German Music Competition – Deutscher Musikwettbewerb.
