A leading stadium in the city has a new man in charge. He is supposed to be from the town where the Big Boss in Sports resides. Other than that he is supposed to be very attached to the opposite sex. Lady workers at this stadium are keeping shy of him lest his charms take effect on them.
Crossed fingers
All is not well in the field of athletics. Nominations for the new set of office-bearers were handed in November last year when the former boss was in office. Now a new boss has taken over but these nominations have not been handed over to the new boss as yet. Elections are due next month. In the meantime athletes who are to take part in international events are keeping their fingers crossed. Until the elections are held and officials are appointed, athletes will not be able to take part in international contests.
Two wheel trouble
Still on the subject of elections to sports bodies, a sport that is ridden on two wheels has been having a leader for eleven years. This individual has loads of power and can do anything to help those who help him in return. It is this power that has kept him in this power seat for so long. With the elections due next month his name is heading the list once again. Will he be able to hold on to this seat again when the rule specifically says that a president can hold office only for two years?
Age no barrier
Most of the Big Matches are over. Before the matches began there was a rule that officials over 60 years of age will not be allowed to stand in at these games. A review of the situation states that most of the umpires were in that age category. It looks as if the body who had appointed these officials to stand in these games was not aware of the age rule, or did they purposely ignore the age factor?
‘A big racquet?
The big boss in a racquet game has published a book giving all statistics that he has done towards this game in the past one year. The book also states that he has spent nearly Rs. 5 million from his private funds towards the betterment of the game. The question is from where did he get this money,
if so how?
Big disappointment
Everyone thought Sri Lanka would be in the final of the World Cup. Families of officials were there in large numbers to cheer the team and had plans of staying there and to come back with the Sri Lanka team possibly with the Cup. What a disappointment it turned out to be. Sri Lanka were beaten by the Kiwis and had to say goodbye to the competition. Their supporters reluctantly packed up and started to return. What a big disappointment.
