Rasika slams career best 201
Mast Far East’s 36-year-old, Rasika Weeraratne achieved a land mark by hitting a carrier best 201 not out (70 balls, 103 minutes, 20 sixes and 13 fours) against Dialog Axiata ‘B” in the ongoing 13th David Pieris Group of Companies – DPGC Challenge Trophy, MCA Division ‘E’ 30-Over League Tournament 2015 played last weekend.
Rasika’s belligerent double century propelled Mast Far East to go over the 300-run mark (305 for 3 in 26 overs) and at least 16 minutes of play was lost due to fielders running helter-skelter to retrieve the balls flying away from the grounds off Weeraratne’s bat. Mast Far East beat Dialog ‘B’ on a faster run rate.
Levers, left-arm leg-spinner, Amal Atapattu with incredible figures of 3.2-2-1-6 including four wickets in a row, sent the nine-man Galadari Hotel team home to tea; the whole match lasting only 19 overs; Galadari 48 in 15.2 overs and Levers 52/2 in 3.4 overs.
Harshaka Cooray (95 in 85 balls with 1 six and 8 fours) and Jaliya Athukorala (6-1-29-6) proved deadly for DFCC Group, as they beat Noyon Lanka by 82 runs.
The other note worthy performances came from G.J. Chamara of Citizens Development Bank (6-1-25-5 vs Singer ‘B’) and Chaminda Aravinda from Nawaloka Group (6-2-43-5 vs Bimputh Finance). The tournament will be continued this week-end with a card of 16 matches.
