Veteran actress Iranganie Serasinghe speakes about award winning teledrama producer Sandya Mendis

Iranganie Serasinghe, a vetran performing artiste in the Sinhala movie and tele world said that she wanted to write about Sandya for the service she has rended to the industry. But was unable to do as she never wanted any kind of publicity about herself.
‘Finally I came to a conclusion, I should do this because of the Sri Lankan audience. Our people should know that there is a remarkable character behind the small screen which they have been enjoying – Sandya Mendis’.
‘I have known Sandya since the time when I first met her on her first teledrama production ‘Yasorawaya’. We stayed at the same location together, infact we both shared the same room. I found her to be an immensely a kind hearted person who cared for people. She is one of best persons I have ever met in my life with so much of kindness and compassion towards others’ said Iranganie in her note to the newspapers.
‘I am so surprised that she became a businesswoman and a producer, which is a very hard and tough profession for a woman, specially when she started her career in her 20’s. She was highly professional. She was producing teledramas not only to make money, but to build a good society in our country. I can remember, how many letters we received from all walks of life, saying how they were reunited and solved their family problems after watching the teledrama ‘Doo Daruwo’.
She introduced new young artistes to the industry and now they are very much popular and in demand. She is a one person I met truly God fearing. She always said Mrs. Serasinghe, I am only a tool in God’s hands and let God use that tool. Credit should go to God. She is so humble to think like that while most of the people are fighting for their image.
I feel her company Susila Productions has done an enormous task towards the television industry which is immeasurable. Sandya keep up your good work. God is with you’.
