CCC School of Cricket to tour India on April 11
View(s):The premier cricket coaching school in the island, CCC School of Cricket, under the expert guidance of legendary coach, Nelson Mendis will take wings to Bangalore, India on Saturday April 11, 2015, on its eighteenth (18th) tour to foreign land.
This esteemed cricket coaching school was started in 1998, has done yeoman service in helping thousands of young cricketers to develop themselves into fully fledged cricketers and gain selections to schools’ junior and national teams. Five of these talented players, nursed and guided in the School have reached the highest level in representing the country, while many are knocking at the door at national level. The most recent addition to the five players who have already won national colours from the school is former student, Andri Berenger, the Sri Lanka Under 19 player. Andri represented United Arab Emirates (UAE) team at the recently concluded Cricket World Cup.
This year, the CCC School of Cricket Under 12 and Under 13 teams will experience the tour. These young cricketers are bound to gain exposure to vast social, cultural and educational aspects of that famous country they visit. Further they will encounter ample opportunities to help develop their personalities through leadership, personal relationships and other social encounters.
Royal junior cricketer Thevindu Senaratne who captained the last under 12 team on tour will be leading the Under 13 squad. A strongly built lad is an aggressive right handed batsman and a right arm medium pace bowler. A sound leader, and much is expected of him. Dineth Jayakody, another talented allrounder from Lyceum International, Wattala will be Thevindu’s deputy.
Prabhasara Herath , Kavindu Pathiratne, Dewmina Kankanamge (allrounders) along with Monil Silva, a left-arm spinner will be the other key players in the side.
Vinuka Nanayakkara, a promising and talented allrounder from Nalanda College leads the Under 12 team with Peterite Venuk Hemachandra (left-arm spinner and left handed opening bat) is the Deputy skipper. Other front line players are Nusrif Nisthar (wicket keeper and top order bat), Lasith Wijedoru (right arm off-spinner), Left arm medium pacer Danal Hemananda and left hand bat and spinner Dasis Manchanayake from whom much is expected.
The touring team will be pitted against strong teams from Bangalore with St. Joseph’s Boys High School (Champions) and Frank Anthony Public School (Runners-up) in the Junior League Tournament in Bangalore as the leading opponents while Brigesh Patel Cricket Academy, Bangalore Youth Cricket Academy and famous Imtiaz Ahmed Cricket Academy will be the other opposing teams.
Officials on the tour will be: Nelson Mendis (Chief de Mission), Major Priyantha Nanayakkara (Manager), Mrs. Champika Fernando (Manageress Welfare and Logistics) and Lasantha Kumara (Coach on Tour).
A special word of thanks is due to the Chief Executive Officer of the School Executive Committee, Harsha Peiris who was solely instrumental in organising and finalising all arrangements regarding the tour and it is unfortunate that he will miss this tour due to other commitments.

Under 12 Team: Vinuka Nanayakkara (Capt.), Venuk Hemachandra (V. Capt), Nusrif Nisthar, Lasith Wijedoru, Thavisha Ranasinghe, Danal Hemananda, Dasis Manchanayake, Dineth Manimeldura, Yorick Tirimanne, Omen Kapuliyanage, Theeraka Ranatunga, Senuth Dharmapriya, Sanuda Fernando and Liam Johnson.
