Korean Park Chul Soon to coach Sri Lanka Baseball team

Second Korean baseball player to play in Major League Baseball in the United States of America and former Korean Professional League pitcher Park Chul Soon arrived in the country last week to coach the national baseball team who will be competing in the six nation Asian Baseball Cup 2015.

Sri Lanka Baseball Association (SLBA) and the Korea Baseball Association (KBA) signed understanding documents in getting the veteran coach Park Chul Soon’s services to coach the Sri Lanka team. He will conduct full day coaching clinics for a month before he accompanies the team to Indonesia for the championship.

Currently the national team is undergoing training under two well experienced local coaches, Amila Bandupathiraja and Malindi Hewage. Park will join them from April 3 to lead the team in preparation for this highly competitive event. With the arrival of Park, SLBA expecting to improve the pitchers of their team to create an edge over the other competing teams.

Championship is conducted by the Baseball Federation of Asia and six countries will compete in accordance with their world rankings and performance in the previous championships.

Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Hong Kong are the other participants in the championship that will be held from May 3 to 10 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
