Mercedes Trophy 25th Anniversary Tournament to be played at Nuwara Eliya

The MercedesTrophy 2015 will be held at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club amidst a grand celebration of epic proportions. Sri Lanka’s top golfing community will be gathering at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club on May 23 for the MercedesTrophy Sri Lanka Country Finals. This event promises to gather the most elite golfing community and boasts to be the most exclusive sporting event in the Sri Lankan sporting calendar, where participation is limited to owners of Mercedes-Benz, Jeep and Chrysler vehicles. Moreover, this is a highly anticipated tournament among the golfing fraternity solely due to the prestige and the rewards which await the winners. The winners stand the chance to compete in the MercedesTrophy Asian Finals and if successful compete in the world finals in Germany.
To commemorate the Silver Jubilee, DIMO will be offering a brand new Mercedes-Benz passenger car as the hole-in-one prize. There will be three handicap groups for men (Division A : 3-12, Division B : 13-20, Division C : 21-24) and one handicap group for women (Division D 0-36). In 1989 the first MercedesTrophy was held, with the participation of six European countries. This 25 year-old tournament is now one of the most popular golfing events where, more than 60,000 participants take part every year. Over the years nearly a million customers and fans of the brand from all over the world have teed off at the Mercedes Trophy.
The climax of the series is the world final, which for years has been held traditionally in and around Stuttgart, the “cradle of the automobile”. This venue underlines the close relations between the brand Mercedes-Benz and golf. The top winners in each handicap categories of the Sri Lanka Country Finals will qualify for the Asian Final, with an all-expenses paid trip to Australia. The winner of each handicap category at the Asian Final will qualify for the World Final in Stuttgart, Germany. Alongside their sporting activities, the participants will be able to experience the brand and its products at close hand with guided tours of the Mercedes-Benz Museum, the Sindelfingen plant and Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach, as well as test drives of the latest models.
