Shafraz, Rasika and Srimal bag weekend honours
View(s):Middle-order batsman, Shafraz Saldin from Singer Sri Lanka ‘B’, top-order batsman and double centurion, Rasika Weeraratne from Mast Far East and medium-fast bowler, Srimal Wimalasena from RR Donnerley, bagged the weekend’s honours in the ongoing 13th David Pieris Group of Companies, ‘DPGC’ Challenge Trophy, MCA Division ‘E’ 30-over League Tournament 2015.
Saldin’s unbeaten 93 in 65 balls, inclusive of six sixes along with eight fours for Singer ‘B’ went a bagging, as they went down to Hilton Colombo by 3 wickets.
Mast Far East, double centurion in the previous weekend, Rasika Weeraratne hit a quick-fire 90 in 60 balls, inclusive of 10 sixes and a four, which was not enough for them to beat Emerchemie NB, who scraped through on a faster run rate.
Srimal Wimalasena’a bowling effort (5-1-14-5) did not bear fruit for RR Donnerley, as they went down fighting to LOLC by 2 wickets; LOLC, precariously placed at 70 for 7, was rescued by a 55-run stand for the eighth wicket by Wasantha Warnakulasuriya (28 not out) and Chatura Rambukwella (26).
