Skipper Chandula guides St. Peter’s to final
St. Peter’s recorded a comfortable six-wicket win over S. Thomas’ in the first semi-final encounter of the Singer Under-19 Twenty20 inter-schools cricket tournament played at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.
Peterite skipper Chandula Jayamanne’s all-round performance helped them to victory which saw them advancing to the final scheduled to be played on April 9.
The Thomians taking first lease of the wicket was making steady progress but skipper Chandula along with Vinu Mohotti and Ravindu Silva who together shared six wickets between combined to restrict their opponents to a score of 127.
St. Peter’s in their run chase was guided by skipper Chandula who made an unbeaten 43 and supported by Saveen Gunasekera enabled them to reach the target in just 13.4 overs. – MSA
