St. Joseph’s Bandarawela beat Bandarawela Central by two wickets
St. Joseph’s College Bandarawela beat Bandarawela Central College by 2 wickets in the 11th Battle of the Golds encounter held at Bandarawela Municipal Council grounds which was played on March 20 and 21. This was the third win for the Josephians in the series.
The Josephians scored 263 in their first innings with a brilliant knock of 76 runs from Jayaranga Ramanayake. The Josephians kept up the pressure on their opponent’s with their outstanding
all-round performances and ended the first day on a strong note when they limited the Centralites to 85 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.
In reply to 264, the Centralites’ innings ended with the scores at 110 with the impressive
bowling figure of 4 for 14 from Dumidu Damishka. Damishka kept up the pressure on Central College in their follow on as well, with his brilliant bowling performance of 5 for 82 which limited the Centralites to 188 runs in their second innings. The Josephians had to chase a simple target of 37 runs but they too were given a rude shock after losing eight quick wickets on pursuit.
