A personal experience at Ma’s cooking Studio
Well-known local spice brand Ma’s Tropical Food Processing (Pvt) Ltd, recently launched their ‘Muluthange Cooking Studio’ – a space where customers can enjoy a personalised cooking experience. The studio is located at Ma’s Gourmet Shop on Havelock Road.
Sarah de Alwis, Communicating Manager, Ma’s food and the Muluthange quarterly food magazine explained that the idea behind the studio was for people to have a hands-on introduction to the fun concepts of cooking in a professional setting. “We believe our studio will be the perfect venue where a range of groups come together to cook, where friendships are stirred and passion for food binds,” she said.
“Most of us don’t have time to cook with family and friends, so we launched this cooking studio to bring the family and friends together for a lovely cooking experience,” Managing director of Ma’s Gourmet Shop, Mario De Alwis said.
The Ma’s family of products include Dad’s Garden gourmet sauces, Happy Home ready to eat foods and curries, Ma’s Happy Life Kitchen organic certified foods, Pasta Roma specialty pastas and sauces and Katersafe supplying the food service industry.
“We firmly believe the studio is the perfect complement to our long – term growth efforts. Our ambitious growth plans involve maintaining and building our position as the market leader in quality food processing and in turn inviting our customers to engage with our products and the Ma’s food brand,” said Mr. de Alwis.
“Ma’s has increased its use of fully traceable, natural and organic certified ingredients. Ingredients are currently sourced from quality suppliers from around the world and company assisted organic farms located in and around our home district Matale. As a responsible family managed company we do our best to protect and sustain our environment. We aim to help our supplier farmers and their communities grow as we grow our own business,” he noted.
Future plans of the studio include offering workshops with industry experts and celebrity chefs, conducting team building programmes for executives and families. There are also plans for a televised reality cooking show.
He also noted that the products are obtained from our own land and exported to international markets, especially to Europe and Japan. Sri Lanka’s curry products are mostly welcomed by the United Arab Emirates with Halal logo said he.
Over the years Ma’s has added a host of exciting new products including a premium range. With humble beginnings of spices in simple packs, today the brand has been embraced by families, sought after by quality conscious food businesses and growing export markets.
