Manjula’s 98 the highlight
Singer Sri Lanka ‘B’ opening batsman Manjula Silva and all-rounder Muditha Gunawardene, RR Donnerly’s Udara Udayanga along with Gayan Rupasinghe, opening bowler of Unilever took the weekend’s spotlight, in the ongoing 13th David Pieris Group of Companies, ‘DPGC’ Challenge Trophy, MCA Division ‘E’ 30-Over League Tournament, continued last weekend.
Manjula Silva hit a belligerent 98 in 58 balls with nine towering sixes and seven fours to propel Singer ‘B’ to the highest team total for the weekend (296 for 8 in 30 overs) and to a 90-run win over Ansell Lanka.

Udara Udayanga struck a quick-fire 96 in 49 balls, inclusive of a six and 18 fours to spearhead RR Donnerley to a comfortable 8-wicket win over Galadari Hotel.
Gayan Rupasinghe snapped up 6 wickets for 17 runs in four overs, inclusive of a maiden, as Unilever took Assetline Leasing to the cleaners, shot out for a pathetic 33 runs in 7 overs, thus beating them by 77 runs.
Muditha Gunawardene Completed a fine double for Singer ‘B’ (75 not out in 41 balls with 5 sixes and 8 fours and 5 for 28 in 6 overs Vs. Ansell Lanka).
The tournament will take a break during the New Year weekend, April 11 and 12 and will be back on track during the weekend of April 18 and 19.
