Largely inspired by the TV show “The Amazing Race”, “RUN” on Saturday, April 18 in Kandy, will be no ordinary race. “RUN” conceived by the newly formed Gateway Kandy Alumni Association in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Kandy includes the concept of check points and clues, focusing on challenges that would test both the brain and brawn of participants.

There’s an attractive prize of Rs. 30, 000 awaiting the winners at the finish.

One of the main aims of the Gateway Kandy Alumni Association in creating “RUN” was to help raise awareness towards healthy living. The event is partnered by Unilever’s Flora and Knorr.

The competition rules are simple:

Each team is allowed 2-4 players (each player registers paying a sum of Rs. 500). Teams must make their way to the starting point (KMC Car Park) at 9 a.m. on April 18. There officials will hand them their first task. On completion of this task they will then be given a set of clues, each one leading them to a checkpoint found somewhere in the city. Every clue is different and requires the team to use their knowledge of the city of Kandy, some common sense and logical thinking.

Once teams have reached all check points and completed their tasks, they can make their way back to where they started and officials will make note of their times to determine the winner.
