Stephanie flies high at Miss Working Girl
An aircraft technician at SriLankan Airlines, the new Miss Working Girl 2015, Stephanie Kinson, featured on our Magazine cover this week, told the Sunday Times that the pageant was so important to her as it was all about independence, confidence and strength of character. “I hope I inspire many more young working girls to get into this pageant in the years to come and make use of the title to benefit others,” she said.
Adding that it was her mother who first encouraged her to apply for the competition by making her understand how it is important for a woman to make time to balance everything in life, when Stephanie was going to let go of the opportunity because of the time constraints she faced, she is hopeful that the title will help her implement the ‘themed’ social service projects she has been working on, on a wider scale.
It was her first experience on the ramp for the 22-year-old. Though she confesses to initial nerves at going out before the crowd for the first time, she said her nervousness soon went away as the evening progressed. “Some of the mini titles came as a complete surprise…because all the 12 contestants were equally beautiful and intelligent,” said Stephanie. Stephanie incidentally picked up four mini-titles (Best Skin, Best Runway Model, Best Figure and Miss Personality) in addition to the main title at the Miss Working Girl pageant held on April 8 at the Galadari.
