Athula Senarath no more
View(s):The icy hand of death touched Athula Senarath a few days back at the comparatively young age of 51. Athula, a fine-scoring left-hand bat, captained Kingswood College in the 1983-84 season. He scored a few centuries in his school career, but more importantly, provided lots of excitement with his brand of batsmanship.
He also played for Kandy CC before taking up residence in Colombo and engaging business enterprises. The large crowd present at Kanatte last Wednesday, despite the enforced absence of newspaper obituaries, bore testimony to the engaging, fun-loving personality that he was. His wife, daughter and son will be the poorer for his loss.
