Sugath returns with ‘V.I.P. Sundara Banda’
View(s):Playwright and ‘Wijeya Kuweni’ famed filmmaker Sugath Samarakone is to direct his latest theatrical production, ‘V.I. P. Sundara Banda’ soon. Produced by Samantha Weerakone, the muhurath ceremony for the play was held recently.
The play, a political comedy is to star Vinu Siriwardena, Sanjaya Samarakone, Umayangana Wickremasinghe, Aravinda Dombagahawatte, Kingsly Weeraratne, Chandu Imbulana, Samantha Weerakone, Lasantha Samarakone, Suranga Chandrasiri, Norbert Perera, Ranjith Vitharana, Jeewananda Rupasinghe, Nalin Guruge, Priya Vithanarachchi, Wasanthi Senarath, Sathya Lakmali, Buddhika Jayakody, Filician Perera and Priyanga Wishwajith.
Sugath came to limelight with his controversial play ‘Uthure Rahula Himi’ in 1980s and thereafter made number of plays. Later he joined cinema with ‘Wijeya Kuweni’ an insight into the well-known historical story and then directed ‘Ehelepola Kumarihami’ as his second direction in cinema. “V. I. P. Sundara Banda” is to go on the boards from June 2015.
