Philippine Consul General completes 21 years of diplomatic service

First Secretary of the Philippine Embassy in Bangladesh Noordin Lomondot, handed over the Certificate of Recognition to Philippine Consul General William John Terrence Perera at the completion of 21 (1993-2014) years of diplomatic service in addition to establishing the Rizal Chapter and Suite 305, business, social and welfare societies in Sri Lanka.

On March 1, 1990, the Sri Lankan Government decided to close down the Lankan Embassy in Manila, while the Government of the Philippines also closed down their Embassy in Colombo on June 30, 1993. In September 1998, a new Sri Lankan Resident Mission was reopened in Manila.

Knights of Rizal Sri Lanka Chapter was established on June 19, 1996 along with the ‘Rizal Suite 305’ with an aim to study the life and teachings of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, (a national hero of the Philippines) to promote and propagate the Rizalian ideals among all classes of people. The Rizal lifestyle Sinhalese edition is now available locally.
