An eye opener series for future national stars

Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Pakistan ‘A’ will feature in a three unofficial ODI’s and three unofficial Test series which is scheduled to begin with the first unofficial ODI encounter due to be played at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara today. The series is no doubt going to be an eye opener and a stepping stone for players who are knocking at the door to get the nod of the national selectors and looking forward to cement their positions thereafter.
Apart from the unofficial ODI due to be played at Matara the other two will be played at Sooriyawewa and R. Premadasa Stadiums. The first unofficial Test match is scheduled to be played at R. Premadasa Stadium followed by the second unofficial Test at Pallekele Stadium and the third at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ will be led by Ashan Priyanjan who will have in his side experienced players in the caliber of Kusal Perera, Tharindu Kaushal and Kithruwan Vithanage along with some talented newcomers who are vying for national recognition. Pakistan ‘A’ will led by Fawad Alam who has played three Tests and 35 ODI’s for Pakistan while his deputy will be another experienced player in Umar Amin who has been successful in domestic tournaments in Pakistan.
