View(s):My trip to Ohiya
My trip was to a mountain called Ohiya. We started our journey at about 7 o’clock in the morning on April 11. We had breakfast at Ratnapura. We went on the trip with some of my father’s friends. On the way we saw a waterfall named Bambarakanda Falls. It is the tallest fall in Sri Lanka. We had lunch at Haputale. In the evening we went to the bungalow. The road was very misty and scary.
The next day we went to Horton Plains. There we saw a monkey, an eagle and a stag. We saw Baker’s Falls, the mini World’s End and World’s End. The next day we had breakfast and set off for home. On the way home we went to see Adisham. It was made by the British in 1931 and now it is maintained by
St. Benedict’s Monastery. It is a beautiful place. After that I saw a waterfall called Diyaluma. I enjoyed my journey very much.

My first basketball tournament
On April 1, 2015 I took part in my first basketball tournament. About a week before, I was told that I would be the captain of the Under 13 Girls basketball team! My house was Apollo.
First, our house was warming up by jogging and doing warm-up exercises. Our team was next after the Under 13 Boys match. All of us were excited to play and we wished each other the best of luck. We went to the court, remembering what our House Captain said. The game started and we were able to get the ball and shoot. This went on and we were selected for the finals. I shook hands with the opponent’s team because they performed well. Sometimes it was hard to get the ball!
The Over 13 Boys and Under 13 Boys were also selected for the finals.
First was the Under 13 Boys match final. Their team was the Runners Up. Our match was next. We were going to play against the Athena House Under 13 Girls team. My best friend was there.
At first it was hard to get the ball but eventually we won! All the house members came into the basketball court. Even the Over 13 Boys won their match! I was also happy to see the Over 13 Girls in third place because they played really hard.
At the end of the day, I held the trophy and gave it to the vice house captain. I was very happy, not because our team were the champions but because I was able to make new friends in my team and in the other teams.

My favourite storybook
My favourite storybook is Noddy. Its author is Enid Blyton. There are lots of books in the Noddy series. Noddy is about a small brave boy. My favourite story is ‘Noddy and the Bunkey”. Some of the others are ‘Noddy goes to Toyland’, ‘Hurrah for Noddy’, ‘Noddy and his car’ etc. There are lots of animal characters in this story. We get lots of knowledgeable things from it. The pictures in the Noddy books are very colourful and beautiful.
Noddy has been translated into more than 30 languages. It is very popular among children in Sri Lanka. Noddy is a very interesting book. It was given to me by my parents for my seventh birthday as a gift. I love to read Noddy very much.

We all are little friends
Once upon a time, there lived two little bears. These two bears were Sandeepa and Amali.
One day Sandeepa and Amali
went to the jungle. Sandeepa saw a deer in an accident. Sandeepa pointed the deer to Amali and said, “There’s good food. Yummy… let’s eat”. “No, that’s a bad idea. If any one is in an accident, we must help them. Because we all are little friends,” Amali said.
Sandeepa agreed to it. So they both went to help the deer and took the deer to their house and helped much and much. They became good friends. These three were the only best friends in that jungle.
So remember if someone is in an accident, we must help them.

Reading maketh a full man
‘Reading maketh a full man’, so it is very important to stick to the habit of reading. Many argue that Internet has revolutionized the way knowledge is delivered. Books still remain the favourite where matured reading is concerned. Reading these great works of history, epics, science and literature, man can only feel a sense of awe in how little he knows. And to quench his interest, he reads more.
With reading, a person learns to absorb facts and self evaluate the issues. Regular reading habits help to improve personality and broadens the horizon of thinking. It can be done as an activity of leisure, as a tool to obtain knowledge or as a weapon of wisdom.
Good books are storehouses of human knowledge and wisdom. Anyone who has the key can enter these storehouses and help himself. What is the key? Simply the ability to read. He who can read can store his mind with the great thoughts of the great thinkers of the world. He who reads widely and judiciously has a full mind. ‘Reading maketh a full man.’
