EWIS to meet Union Assurance in E div final
Unbeaten EWIS and Union Assurance PLC advanced to the final of the 12th David Pieris Group of Companies Sponsored, ‘DPGC’ Challenge Trophy, MCA ‘E’ Division 30-Over League Tournament 2015.
The semi-finals were worked off simultaneously at the MCA and Thurstan College grounds last weekend.
A well compiled 75 runs in 69 balls, inclusive of five sixes and four fours by Heshan Wanniarachchi helped EWIS to a close nine runs win over Unilever in a rain interrupted match while the stylish innings of opening batsman, Susantha de Mel (63 rtd. hurt in 74 balls with two sixes Kasun Liyanage (6-1-27-2) and Dulip Silva (6-2-28- 3) propelled Union Assurance to a comfortable 58 runs win over Emerchemie NB.
The final between, EWIS and Union Assurance PLC will take place on this weekend at the MCA grounds, commencing 10.00 am.

South Asia Gateway Terminal registered two fine back to back wins over MAC Holdings and Oral Corporation, in the ongoing 2nd Sierra Information Technology Trophy, MCA ‘F’ Division 25 Over League Tournament 2015, continued last weekend.
On Saturday M.K. Ratnajeewa hit a whirl wind 58 runs in 22 balls, inclusive of five massive sixes and a half a dozen sizzling fours, as SAGT achieved their revised winning target of 100 for 2 in just six overs over MAC Holdings.
W.P.T.G. Wijeratne hit a belligerent 87 not out in 54 balls inclusive of seven sixes and four fours to run up a formidable 215 for 8 in 25 overs for SAGT which was enough to beat new comers, Oral Corporation on a faster run rate.
Debutants QP Employment helped by their inform batsman, T.S. Inudeen (65) registered their 3rd win, beating Citi Bank NA on a faster run rate.
Other notable performance came from K. Wijesiri from EB Creasey (55 Vs. Coutaulds Clothing), S. Alirajah from Citi Bank NA (53 Vs. Nippon Paint), Vindika Chandrasekera from Janashakthi ‘B’ (53 Vs.
