TTASL selects strong contingent for New Delhi South Asian c’ships
View(s):At the conclusion of the trials held at the S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium last weekend the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL)
selected a strong contingent of fourteen players to represent Sri Lanka at the South Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship scheduled to be held from June 17 to 19 at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, India.
Four junior boys led by Sri Lanka junior National Champion Udaya Ranasinghe will play in the Junior Boys Under 18 while Ruvini Kannangara leads a team of four paddlers in the Junior Girls Under 18 team. A team of six players with three each will battle for the Cadet Boys Under 15 and Cadet Girls Under 15 segments.
The selection committee headed by former Sri Lanka Table Tennis champion Dr. Nimal Lucas were given a tough time in selecting the team as every youngster matched each other and the trials took a very competitive atmosphere.
As this set of youngsters showed a lot of talent and improvement at the trials and the management and the coaches of the Sri Lanka Table Tennis Association are confident that Sri Lanka would be able to win quite a good number of medals at the championship.
The team practised under the guidance of coaches W.A. Buddasiri and Buddika Dikkumbura showed a lot of maturity and are sure to be reckoned in the South Asian Region.

- Cadet Girls Under-15: Hansani Piyumila, Imasha De Silva Thanushi Rodrigo
