Yashan hits new heights with Shanudrie
View(s):Popular young singing sensation Yashan de Silva is back in the limelight with his latest release ‘Sansara Gaane’(Mal Sihinaya 2) with Shanudrie Priyasad. The official launch of the new song will be held at the ‘Music Xpress’ program on Siyatha TV on Sunday, 14th June at 5.30pm.
It’s the second duet sung by Yashan and Shanudrie. Lyrics of the song was written by Sandun Perera, a young and talented lad who is in early twenties. The music was directed by an extremely talented young musician Shenuka H. Peiris. The Music video was directed by Dimantha Balasooriya, which is his debut creation at Yashan productions.
‘It was filmed for two days in two locations, first day we covered the storyline scenes in Kandana and we did the main singing shots in Negombo lagoon’ said Yashan. Yashan, popular and a well-known singer, rap artiste, presenter and a producer, who made it to the mainstream music industry in 2008 with his debut smash hit single ‘Sandawathuren’ with Ashanthi.
This followed by the his debut solo album ‘Sandawathuren2 ‘ produced by Bathiya and Santhush under M Entertainment and Universal Music Records. With project, Yashan became the youngest artiste from Sri Lanka to record on Universal Records
‘Siththamak Wage’, ‘Me Aththamaido’ with MISS CHEY, ‘Re Thung yame’, ‘Mal Sihinaye’, ‘Re Tharakawo’ and ‘Labagaththe Amaruwen’ are some of Yashan’s biggest hits to date.
‘Siththamak Wage’ is his most popular song which was featured on all leading TV Stations and FMs in Sri Lanka and it was on air on BBC RADIO ONE. ‘Siththamak Wage’ has won a SPECIAL MERIT AWARD @ 35TH SIGNIS Salutations Night.
‘Pem Hansaya’ song with MISS CHEY off YASHAN’s second album ‘Siththamak Wage’ was featured on BBC WORLD SERVICE and that’s also a notable milestone from Yashan’s successful musical journey as one of the best trend setters in Sri Lanka
By hosting two radio shows for four years on YFM, and two TV shows for SIRASA TV and CHANNEL One MTV, Yashan has managed to build up a huge fan base becoming one of the popular television presenters as well.
How do you like to work with Shanudrie?
Honestly she is one of the coolest girls that I have ever met. She is young, talented, vibrant and the best feature is its easy to work with her. She has a long way to go I think and she has already proved what she is capable of. When she proposed to do the first song with me, she was 14 I guess, and it was a great success.
How was the feedback for ‘Mal Sihinaye’?
It was great. It was getting a heavy air play on most of the leading TV channels and its nice to see that its still getting requested by fans on requests shows. The song has almost 400,000 views on YOUTUBE.
