Gunners Supercross on July 5
The calm and tranquil hamlet of Minneriya will be shattered to the thundering roar of machines when the 10th edition of the Gunner Supercross 2015 flags off on July 5 at the Artillery Complex track in Minneriya. Regiment of Artillery in association with Sri Lanka Drivers Association (SLADA) had made every arrangement for this magnificent event promising an aura of excitement combined with the spills and thrills of motor sports.

The organisers had already received confirmation from over 150 competitors in both motorcycles and cars and are expecting confirmation from foreign competitors and the event will be worked-off in twenty three events – 12 motor cycle and 11 car events.
Host of sponsors have come forward for this event which will be expected to be a highly successful event as in the previous years. As sports always joins hands with social welfare the projects accomplished with funds accumulated from the nine previous Supercross events included construction of houses and provide other facilities to the members of the families of the soldiers of every rank who sacrificed their lives to the liberation of the motherland.
It will be noticed with immense importance of the awarding of scholarships and computers to selected children of the gunners families along with numerous other projects for the soldiers and their families. The organisers have extended the benefits for the population of Polonnaruwa region by way of arranging social welfare projects.
This year’s meet will be worked off at the uniquely constructed gravel track and will have modern timing equipment which can record timing of 30 to 40 competitors in a single event.
The 10th Gunner Supercross is sure to conclude with a remarkable success and will be witnessed by a large gathering of motor race enthusiasts from all over the country with over 150 competitors to show their prowess in motor racing.
