“New lawyers-committee to probe Central Bank, Treasury, accountants” – Letter
View(s):I refer to your article on Page 3 of The Business Times of Sunday 14-06-2015 under the above headline. Whatever the respected legal luminaries and other legal bigwigs may have to say about the legality of the Lawyers-Committee appointed to probe financial acts or omissions by certain institutions, we the depositors of a troubled finance company wish to brng to your notice, that we are on the other side of the coin.
We consider this as a window of opportunity to have a dialogue with a group of intellectuals selected for the purpose by the Prime Minister and open our can of worms, which is a long drawn out and harrowing tale of woe, wherein for a period of six years we have been denied our dues in the form of interest and/or capital for our hard earned investments made in this company which we assure you.
Unlike the Golden Key Card Co, our company was registered with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, We believe that this committee will examine very carefully and evaluate the evidence we intend placing before them, and submit a just and fair report to the Prime Minister who being an internationally accepted legislator and a person who is well versed in the law of the land, will ensure that all the legal obstacles pointed out by the legal luminaries are dealt with in a legal manner and present it via the Cabinet to Parliament because as the old adage goes “Dogs may bark but the caravan must roll on”.
