The Meteorology Dept forecasts intermittent thundershowers in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western Provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts, with certain areas receiving in excess of 80 mm of rain.

Thundershowers are expected to develop at several places in the Eastern and Uva Provinces during the afternoon or evening.
The Met Dept also forecasts offshore wind speeds in shallow and deep seas could reach up to 80 km per hour and warns seafarers to exercise caution.

It also predicts winds over the country, particularly over hillsides and surrounding sea areas.
Fairly heavy showers were reported from the Western, Central, and Southern and North-Central Provinces early this week, said the Met Dept. Highest rainfall of 80.1 mm was reported from Pakkuda estate and 34 mm from Norton early this week.
The maximum temperature of 36.3 degree centigrade was reported from Batticaloa and the minimum temperature of 13.9 degree centigrade was reported from Nuwara Eliya.

Maximum daytime temperatures were approximately 2 degree centigrade below normal at Badulla and 5 degree centigrade above normal in Jaffna, Batticaloa and Ratmalana.
