SAVING MONEY IN A UNIQUE WAY

A leading sports organisation after its AGM, has avoided 16 court cases! This move has saved a lot of funds for the sport. The earlier administration had spent nearly Rs. 50 lakhs on such cases. The present set of officials have decided it is useless to pursue such court cases and had decided not to go after them further causing a lot of heart burn for the lawyers and saving a lot of money for the sport.

TRYING TO BE ON THE BAND WAGON
An official who was not invited for a function held in connection with a key game played with the willow after the local team won the game was not allowed to come on stage for the prize presentation by the security. The main reason being that he was not invited in the first place. It looks as if he was trying to be on the band wagon and trying to bask in the glory of the winning team.

WIN AT ANY COST
A court case concerning a popular sport has cited 450 witnesses! Never in the annals of court cases has there been such an amount of witnesses. This case has been brought to court by a former chief of this particular sport. It looks as if he wants to win the case at any cost and has summoned such a large number of witnesses.

THE BUSY LADY
A lady official of a very popular sport has no work these days because the team is involved in international games. Nevertheless she makes it a point to be present at the venues to draw the allowance that she is entitled. Just to make sure that she gets this allowance she brings her work (books) connected with the sport to the grounds in order to make sure that she gets her allowance.

FLYING ZINC SHEETS
Spectators and athletes watched in horror as the zinc sheets of a popular stadium in the outskirts of Colombo was blown away by the wind and the rain. This took place when a key youth festival was in progress at the venue. This is apparently is not the only setback of this sports venue. Athletes complained that even the tracks were not up-to-date and there were not enough facilities for them. It looks as if this sports stadium too is not far behind a popular venue in Colombo which is now in a dilapidated state.
