Moratuwa uni start-up selected for RISE HK
View(s):Emojot, a local company incubated out of the University of Moratuwa that uses ‘emoticons’ (emojis) as a real-time customer feedback methodology, has been selected to participate at the Web Summit-organised RISE conference, to be held on July 31 in Hong Kong.
According to a company statement, “Emojot was selected out of thousands of applications submitted by exciting, disruptive, early-stage startups to participate in the ALPHA startup track. Over the two-day programme, the world’s most cutting-edge startups, the most experienced investors and some of the most exciting speakers will network, learn and share their stories at the Hong Kong Convention Centre… RISE is the first Asian venue event being held by Web Summit, the ‘Davos for Geeks’, which in the span of four years has become Europe’s largest tech conference attracting over 20,000 attendees from around the world”.
The statement additionally noted, “Emojot is a client engagement platform for real-time analysis of customer perceptions. It allows one to easily aggregate and analyse in real-time, millions of contextually relevant perceptions on a single platform. Emojot is useful in enabling two-way conversations with targeted market segments across a multitude of scenarios, ranging from events, reality TV shows, political campaigns, news programmes, competitions and targeted marketing campaigns”. Further, the statement also quoted the company’s Founder and Chief Executive Shahani Markus as commenting that it was “selected for RISE because Emojot is currently the only technology platform in the world that can instantly analyse streaming crowd perceptions to meaningfully respond to targeted client segments in real-time. It uses emojis to capture moment-by-moment sentiment in a language agnostic manner and has a built-in gratification process, which results in a very rich and engaging user experience”.
