Old Familians impress at Cager
View(s):The action of the 2nd Inter Schools Old Boys and Old Girls Basketball Championships 2015, conducted by Masters Basketball Sri Lanka, shifts from the MCA Courts to Depot Police Courts, Bambalapitiya.
In the matches played over last weekend Old Familians, Bambalapitiya came back strongly in the 2nd half to down the Old Girls from our Lady of Victories, Moratuwa by 32 points to 22 in the women’s Over -35 Final at the Depot Police Courts, over last week-end.
OLV held the upper hand, 13/09 at half time.
Shevonne Perera (16) and Beverly Wijesooriya (10) were the match winners for Old Familians; while Savithri Perera (10), Premesha Fernando scored the bulk for OLV.
In the Men’s Over-50 Final played at the same venue, the Old Issipathanians turned the tables on the Old Peterites, as they beat them by 24 points to 20, after being led 08/13 at half time.
The match winners for Pathana were Jayantha Ranawana (10) and T.M. Amath (10); while Nimal Jayasuriya (10) and Kevin Edward excelled for the Peterites.
The tournament will be continued this weekend at the Depot Police Courts, Bambalapitiya with the following three Finals: Over-40 Men-Old Sokians, Ambalangoda Vs. Old Sebastianites, Moratuwa; Over-28 Women-Old Presbitarians, Mt. Lavinia Vs. Old Josephians, Nugegoda; Men’s Over-35 Old Antonians, Wattala Vs. Old Bens, Kotahena.
The event will be culminated with the glittering awards presentation and fellowship, today, at 7.30 pm at the MCA pavilion.
