Sixteen teams qualify to pre-quarter finals

At the conclusion of the second round matches of the Under 17 Division One cricket tournament saw sixteen teams advancing to the pre-quarter-final stage. The first round matches were contested by 77 teams which were divided into ten groups.
The completion of the first round matches saw 40 teams qualifying to compete in the second round. The completion saw defending champions Richmond along with runner Trinity, St Sebastian’s, Sri Sumangala Panadura, Isipathana, St Peter’s, Thurstan and Ananda come out as leaders of their respective groups.
They along with the runners up of these groups qualified to the pre-quarter-final. The pre-quarter-final matches are scheduled to be worked off from July 29.
