Metho sing-along to raise funds for Restarick BungalowBy Vinusha Paulraj
View(s):The Restarick Bungalow stands firm in the memories of past pupils of Methodist College, Colombo 3. For some in the batch of 1987, it was the home of their principal and her family, others remember the few classes they had there. It was also where they had hearty sessions of singing.
Currently putting together ‘Come MC Girls, Let’s Proudly Sing- the Metho Sing-Along 2015′ their idea of a party hasn’t changed much over the years. The sing-along will be conducted by veteran entertainer Rukshan Perera, backed by popular faces in the music scene. It comes as a run-up event to the school’s 150th anniversary which will be celebrated next year and is a fundraiser to restore the beloved Restarick Bungalow.
Named after a former manager of Methodist College, Rev. E.A. Restarick who served in the early 1900s, the Restarick Bungalow stands among three of the school’s older structures, telling of the school’s vibrant history. The estimated cost is around Rs. 60 Million to bring back its former glory, and the Batch of 87 hope to give back to the school which fostered their love for music in whichever capacity possible.
Tickets for the musical evening, ‘Come MC Girls Let’s Proudly Sing’ on August 22 at 7 p.m. are available at the 80 Club, where the event will take place. Priced at Rs. 1500, the tickets are inclusive of dinner.
