Roar.lk marks 1st year with revamped website
View(s):Rich content digital platform, Roar.lk has launched an upgraded version of their website, as the startup celebrates their first year in operation. Set up in July 2014, the new streamlined platform now has content grouped by interest areas. Readers can select from stories focusing on startups and initiatives, technology, culture, art, health and lifestyle. In addition, the website has set up a Netwok Content feature, which will promote local content from other blogs and websites as well, according to a company media statement.
“Roar has come a long way since we started. In terms of numbers we’ve exceeded our expectations and have a strong and growing readership, so it’s reassured us of the need for accessible and localised content. Beyond that, there’s far more that goes into just the site. Internally, we’ve had a lot of restructuring and redefining because we’re always trying to innovate and be more creative with how we work around our content,” said co-founder Munira Mutaher. Over the past year, the local startup has established its presence on social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and most recently Snapchat, setting up a live feed to cover local events each week. Roar also now has its own development blog ‘Roar Insider’, giving readers a behind-the-scenes look into the progress of the content-rich start-up.
Offline the company has partnered with initiatives such as the Colombo Design Market in support of local art and design. Roar created an interactive design installation at the latest installation of the Design Market and has also worked closely with Red Bull for several of their events.
