Trinity emerged the Milo Under-14 All-Island Schools 12-a-side rugby champions when they recorded a 10 points to 5 win over S. Thomas’ in the final played at the Royal Sports Complex ground in Reid Avenue.

The Junior Lions came back after having conceded a 0-5 lead to the Junior Thoras at the breather and accumulated their points through a goal and a drop goal to the solitary try scored by their opponents.

The Thomians did the first scoring through an unconverted try scored by Tharusha Kulasinghe midway in the first half which stood the score at the short whistle.

The Trinitians taking advantage of the crucial mistakes made by the Thomians saw the Trinitians went into the lead midway in the second half with Shehan Sirisoma going over for an under the post try which gave Minidu Jayasuriya an easy conversion who in the dying stages of the match sealed the game for the Trinitians with a drop goal.

St John’s Nugegoda carried away the Shield trophy while Wesley and Kingswood took the Bowl and Plate trophies.
The tournament was conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Association and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd and saw over 25 teams in action.
