A MEMENTO, FOR WHAT?
View(s):A high level sports congress took place in Beijing about a fortnight ago with two powerful people in the world of sports locking horns with each other. The athlete triumphed by a small margin. Sri Lanka had been supporting the loser for quite awhile, hoping to gain something if he had triumphed. But he lost and all hopes were dashed! But to the surprise of all the winner of the closely fought out contest, gave Sri Lanka a memento, in appreciation of the work the island nation had done.
WAITING FOR THE NEW BOSS
The days are numbered for the Sports Boss. Apparently officials of the newly elected regime are not satisfied with the jobs that he has performed during the past four months or so. No job was satisfactorily carried out. In fact everything has been a mess. Even international sports organisations had been dissatisfied with the tasks that he had carried on. Now the sports world is awaiting a new messiah. Who will it be?
NO HELPING HAND
Two athletes (a man and a woman) left Sri Lanka to take part in the World Athletic Championships Marathon events which commenced in China yesterday. The husband of the woman had made an urgent plea to witness the event and had approached the boss of the sport to give him accreditation to witness the event, bearing his own expenses. The boss of the sport, a former athlete himself, had refused point blank. Is this the way that a former athlete should behave without extending a helping hand?
CLOSE THE OFFICE
A sports boss insists that his office should be closed when he goes abroad on business. But the others protested. Then he had ordered that his mail should not be opened and no one should take a peek into his e-mails. What is he trying to hide?
THE JOB WAS DONE
There was no official to select the teams to take part. The ex-co of this sports body had then decided that the teams be selected by a former top athlete. The former athlete had then selected the teams and had submitted them to the ex-committee. Correct procedure or not the job was done.
A NEW CHANT
With the former boss of this section in a leading sport having entered politics, the workers whose contracts are due to expire have started a different chant. It was ‘Nisha, Nisha’ then now the new chant is ‘Kush, Kush’.
