Avishka Fernando slammed a quick fire 101 in only 80 balls which included nine boundaries and half a dozen sixes to put St. Sebastian’s in a strong position against Isipathana at the end of the first session’s play in the Under-17 Division One semi-final encounter played at R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

St. Sebastian’s taking first lease of the wicket was steered by a valuable third wicket stand of 82 runs between Avishka and Malintha Peiris who made 38. Proceedings were brought to a halt when the Sebs were on 198 for 3 in the 38th over. With nearly half an hour of play lost the match was reduced to 42 overs which saw St Sebastian’s end their innings making a score of 225 for 6. The victory target for Isipathana has been revised to 252 runs in 42 overs.
