Tamil Union home with a day to spare
Tamil Union demolished Air Force SC by an innings and 226 runs with a day to spare in the Under 23 Division One cricket encounter concluded at the Air Force ground in Katunayake yesterday. The foundation for the win was laid by openers Pabasara Waduge and Sithara Gimhan after the bowling trio Madushan Ravichandrakumar, Devin Pathmanathan and Pulina Tharanga combined to bundle the Airmen batting first for a meager score of just 55 runs. Half tons by Praveen Fernando, Ramesh Mendis and Sanka Ramesh helped SSC take a first inning lead over Ragama CC at the end of the second day’s play in the match played at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona.
NCC after bowling out Ragama CC for went on to make a mammoth score of 391 for 9.Saracens SC too has taken a first inning lead over Moratuwa SC when play stopped on the second day in the match played at De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa.
CCC was well away against Colts CC at the end of the second day’s proceedings in the match played at Braybrooke Place.
Impressive bowling returns by Lahiru Sanjaya and Roshan Perera supported by Akila Lakshan and Sasanka Fernando helped Panadura SC dominate against Negombo CC in the match played at Kadirana.
