SLEvA ‘Responsive Evaluation’ 5th Biennial International Conference
View(s):The Sri Lanka Evaluation Association (SLEvA) in collaboration with the Finance Ministry’s Department of Project Management and Monitoring will hold its 5th Biennial International Conference on the theme ‘Responsive Evaluation’ from September 15-18 at the Balmoral Hall of the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo.
This is a move to support the decision by the United Nations and the international community to declare 2015 as the International Year of Evaluation (EvalYear 2015) as a precursor to the Global Evaluation Agenda (GEA) 2016-20 which will spearhead the UN-declared international Sustainable Development Goals.
EvalYear2015 has been designated to advocate and promote evaluation and evidence-based policy making at international, regional, national and local levels. (Details of GEA may be accessed at http://www.mymande.org/evalyear/global_evaluation_agenda_2016-2020
The conference, therefore, seeks to understand the methods that have improved the responsiveness of evaluation, especially in developing country environments.
SLEvA, a voluntary service organisation, was established on September 4, 1999 to enable and foster an evaluation culture in Sri Lanka.
Comprising professionals, academics, government officials, non-governmental organisations, civil society representatives and private sector representatives, its objectives are to contribute to better management of development processes, promote good governance and accountability in public and private development processes.
SLEvA has supported the formulation of a Draft National Evaluation Policy and developed and coordinated nationally the Teaching Evaluation in South Asia (TESA) project which resulted in the Sri Jayewardenepura University launching a Postgraduate Diploma on Development Evaluation in 2015.
The conference is open to the public. For more information, please contact 0714901913.
