Anuradha, Madumali emerge top boxers of the meet
The ABA Novices Men’s and Women’s boxing championship which concluded at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium saw Anuradha Gunaskera and Madumali Herath come out as the best boxers in the men’s and women’s categories.

Anuradha boxing in the colours of MAS Casual overcame A.D.Y.K. Athukorala of Air Force in the under 69kg bout while Madumali representing the Air Force got the better of Tharindi Dasunika who took the best loser’s award of MAS Southern in the under 54kg bout.
The meet organised by the Amateur Boxing Association saw newcomers from the top boxing clubs islandwide in the fray with boxers from MAS Southern, MAS Unichela, MAS Turulie, Air Force and Army dominating the three day meet.
In the women’s category MAS Southern dominated the proceedings by winning three of the eight bouts while MAS Unichela and Navy won two bouts with Air Force winning one.
Air Force and Army came out on top in the men’s category while Sandakelum Adikari of Navy was adjudged the best loser in the men’s category.
